LIFE WEEELoop showcased at CONAMA 2024
Read moreThe LIFE WEEELoop project had a prominent presence at the 2024 National Environment Congress (CONAMA 2024), thanks to the participation of the Fundación ECOLEC technical team. During a session focused on circular economy and remanufacturing, they presented the project’s progress and its transformative potential in the management of electrical and electronic waste (WEEE).
Within CONAMA 2024, LIFE WEEELoop was introduced as an innovative example of circular economy applied to the treatment of electric cooking plates (induction, radiant, and hybrid models). Funded by the European Union’s LIFE program, the project aims to develop a replicable model based on component reuse, eco-design, and digital traceability.
The Fundación ECOLEC technical team shared the project’s comprehensive approach, highlighting key milestones such as the establishment of preparation for reuse centers (CPRs), the use of artificial intelligence tools for selecting reusable components, and the development of a digital passport ensuring the traceability of recovered materials.
The presentation generated strong interest among attendees, showing how LIFE WEEELoop improves current recovery rates and facilitates the transition toward a more sustainable production model. The possibilities of scaling the model to other products and European countries were also discussed.
Fundación ECOLEC’s participation at CONAMA 2024 reaffirms the project’s commitment to ecological transition, grounded in technological innovation, collaboration, and environmental responsibility.
LIFE WEEELoop continues to strengthen its role as a benchmark for circular solutions in the appliance sector, adding value through reuse and traceability and paving the way toward a more sustainable future.
